About Middle East Chapter

Mission & Objectives

The Middle East Chapter of the Kohatian Association (KA) aims to bring together Kohatians living and working across the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE (Dubai & Abu Dhabi), and Oman. Given the large number of Kohatians working as doctors, civil and mechanical engineers, and professionals in finance, business, and other sectors, the chapter seeks to create a unified platform for connection, collaboration, and community support.

The primary objectives of the Middle East Chapter are to:

  • Unite Dispersed Kohatians: Establish a structured and formal chapter to connect Kohatians residing in various Middle Eastern countries under the KA banner.
  • Facilitate Networking & Professional Growth: Build professional connections, create career growth opportunities, and strengthen the support network for Kohatians working in diverse industries.
  • Support Welfare & Assistance: Provide mutual support for Kohatians and their families, both locally and back home, in matters of education, healthcare, and welfare.
  • Promote Community Engagement: Organise events, family gatherings, and professional workshops to foster camaraderie and unity among Kohatians living in the Middle East.

History

The Middle East has always been a significant destination for Kohatians, with many alumni moving to the region for lucrative career opportunities in healthcare, engineering, finance, and other key industries. The region is home to a large number of Kohatians, but until now, they have largely remained dispersed and unorganised under a formal chapter structure.

Unlike the well-established UK, North America, and Australia chapters, the Middle East Chapter is currently in the process of being formally organised and unified under the Kohatian Association’s global framework. The efforts to bring Kohatians in the Middle East together are focused on encouraging registrations on the KA website, consolidating existing networks, and introducing a formal governance structure similar to other chapters.

This work-in-progress chapter is a major priority for the Kohatian Association, as unifying Kohatians in the Middle East will not only strengthen the community but also create new opportunities for welfare projects, professional growth, and career mobility.

Key Activities & Initiatives

  • Unification Efforts: A dedicated effort is underway to unify Kohatians from KSA, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman under a single Middle East Chapter. By encouraging Kohatians to register on the KA website, this initiative aims to create a common platform for all Kohatians in the region.
  • Professional Networking: The Middle East Chapter will focus on connecting Kohatians working in healthcare, engineering, business, and other professions, enabling them to share knowledge, offer mentorship, and create job opportunities for each other.
  • Career Development & Mentorship: With a large presence of experienced professionals, this chapter will serve as a career support network, especially for young Kohatians arriving in the Middle East for job placements.
  • Welfare & Support Initiatives: The Middle East Chapter aims to support Kohatians in need, whether through educational support for children, financial assistance for healthcare, or welfare initiatives back in Pakistan. The aim is to pool collective resources and offer timely support to those in need.
  • Social Gatherings & Family Events: Annual get-togethers, Eid celebrations, and family events will be arranged to promote social engagement and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood within the Middle East Kohatian community.

Leadership & Governance

Unlike other regional chapters, the Middle East Chapter is currently in the process of being formalised. While informal networks exist across countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Qatar, the goal is to establish a formal structure under the broader Kohatian Association framework.

Once formalised, the Middle East Chapter will adopt a leadership and governance structure similar to other chapters, which includes elected cabinet positions such as:

  • President: Leads the chapter, represents it in the KA Global Executive Committee (GEC), and oversees community development initiatives.
  • Vice President: Supports the President, steps in during absences, and facilitates smooth chapter operations.
  • General Secretary: Manages chapter administration, ensures record-keeping, and serves as a liaison between members and the cabinet.
  • Finance Secretary: Oversees the chapter’s financial affairs, maintains financial accountability, and ensures transparency in the collection and use of funds.

The goal is to have a formally elected leadership team with fixed terms, as outlined in the newly adopted KA Constitution. This will allow for democratic representation, better coordination of activities, and alignment with the Kohatian Association’s global objectives.

Vision for the Future

The Middle East Chapter envisions a future where every Kohatian in the region feels connected, supported, and engaged. This vision is being actively pursued by the Kohatian Association through efforts to encourage member registrations, promote active participation, and establish formal governance. The future roadmap for the chapter includes:

  • Formal Chapter Establishment: Complete the formalisation of the chapter, hold elections for cabinet positions, and ensure that Kohatians in each Middle Eastern country feel equally represented.
  • Welfare & Support Programmes: Launch welfare initiatives that offer support for education, healthcare, and emergency assistance for Kohatians living in the Middle East.
  • Technology-Driven Engagement: Leverage the KA website, eVoting platform, and Kohatian Database to ensure member participation in KA initiatives and facilitate seamless coordination with the global Kohatian community.
  • Professional Excellence & Networking: Create professional excellence hubs where Kohatians can network, exchange knowledge, and support each other’s career growth.

By fostering unity, formalising leadership, and strengthening community support, the Middle East Chapter aims to become a vital pillar of the Kohatian Association. With the region’s significant Kohatian population and professional presence, this chapter has the potential to become one of the most influential and impactful Kohatian chapters worldwide.
