About North America Chapter

Mission & Objectives

The North America Chapter of the Kohatian Association serves as a vital hub for Kohatians residing in the United States and Canada. This chapter aims to strengthen the Kohatian network across North America, fostering professional growth, personal development, and lifelong connections among alumni. The chapter’s objectives include supporting Kohatians in their educational, career, and entrepreneurial pursuits, as well as promoting a culture of giving back to Cadet College Kohat (CCK) through initiatives like the Niagara Falls Awards.

History

The North America Chapter is one of the most prominent and well-established chapters of the Kohatian Association. Over the years, it has seen a steady influx of Kohatians, particularly doctors pursuing medical careers via the USMLE pathway, as well as engineers, finance professionals, and business executives. The chapter has grown into a close-knit community known for its active support of fellow Kohatians and its strong commitment to philanthropy.

One of the most notable contributions from this chapter is the Niagara Falls Award, established in 2010 during the 40th reunion of the Sixers at Niagara Falls, Canada. The award recognises and rewards academic excellence at CCK by awarding PKR 100,000 each to the first-position holders in both SSC (Class 10) and HSSC (Class 12) board exams. This initiative, funded by prominent Kohatians from the North America Chapter, reflects the chapter’s dedication to nurturing future leaders and maintaining a strong link with their alma mater.

Key Activities & Initiatives

  • Niagara Falls Awards: Annual financial awards for top-performing cadets in SSC and HSSC board exams.
  • Professional Networking: Leveraging the vast network of Kohatians in healthcare, engineering, finance, and business to create mentorship opportunities for juniors pursuing careers in North America.
  • Support for New Entrants: Assisting new Kohatians moving to the U.S. or Canada, particularly those navigating the USMLE process, job placements, and settlement in a new country.
  • Social Events & Gatherings: Regular reunions, family get-togethers, and professional meetups to strengthen alumni bonds.

Leadership & Governance

Unlike other Kohatian Association chapters, the North America Chapter does not currently have a formal cabinet or a defined governance structure. The chapter operates on a loosely tied, community-driven model with no official hierarchy in place. Leadership responsibilities, such as coordinating events, managing initiatives like the Niagara Falls Award, and supporting new arrivals, are often taken up voluntarily by senior Kohatians or those willing to step forward for specific tasks.

While the absence of a formal cabinet allows for flexibility and shared responsibility, efforts are ongoing to explore the possibility of establishing a more structured governance model to streamline decision-making and improve operational efficiency.

Vision for the Future

The North America Chapter aims to continue its legacy of excellence by:

  • Expanding its mentorship programs for Kohatians pursuing higher education or professional opportunities in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Enhancing support for new arrivals, especially those pursuing careers in medicine, engineering, and finance.
  • Strengthening fundraising initiatives like the Niagara Falls Award and supporting other welfare projects for current cadets at CCK.

With a strong foundation of community support and professional excellence, the North America Chapter remains a leading force within the Kohatian Association, symbolising the unity and strength of Kohatians across borders.
