The Election Commission was appointed independently of the cabinet to administer the 2026 elections. It had full authority over candidate eligibility, voting process, and result certification.

KA Democratisation Journey Begins
Kohatians begin pushing for a transparent, formally structured alumni association with elected leadership.
2025
KA Formally Registered
Kohatians Association registered Under The Islamabad Capital Territory Charities Registration, Regulation And Facilitation Act, 2021. KA gains legal standing.
Early 2026
Election Commission Appointed
An independent three-member Election Commission formed: Naser Hamdani (CEC), Javed Iqbal, and Khalid Nasir (UK). Election Rules 2026 finalised.
May 2026
Candidate Nominations Open
Nominations invited for President, Vice President, General Secretary, and Finance Secretary. Eligibility criteria applied per KA Constitution.
6–8 June 2026
General Elections Held
KA's first-ever general elections conducted online. All registered members from all 14 domestic and international chapters participated.
8 June 2026
Results Certified
Election Commission certified results. Gen. (Rtd) Viqar Ahmad elected President; Col. (Rtd) Maqbool Mohammad Vice President; Dr. Humayun General Secretary; Fiaz Jafri Finance Secretary.
How We Ran the Elections

Electoral Principles

Independence
The Election Commission operated fully independently of the Interim Cabinet. No sitting officer could influence the process.

Universal Suffrage
Every registered KA member, regardless of location, had an equal vote. International chapters participated via secure e-voting.

Transparency
Candidate profiles, rules, and eligibility criteria published in advance. Results certified and made publicly available.
